I recently joined a gym, because I’m hoping to get in shape. My goal is to not only lose some weight but gain strength and get healthy. Although the gym membership was a bit pricey I thought it would be worth it. On my initial visit to the gym, I simply filled out some paperwork and took a tour. One of the trainers walked me through the various areas and showed me how everything works. The gym offers a ton of equipment and free group classes, as well as a sauna. The place was perfectly cool and comfortable. Despite the many people working out, there was no smell of sweat. I was quite impressed that their air conditioner was able to maintain a pleasant temperature and decent air quality. A few days later, when I was finally able to begin my workout regiment, I was met with a completely different set of conditions. I stepped inside and immediately felt the heat. Before I even had the opportunity to change into my workout clothes, I was slightly sweaty. The odor of a bunch of sweaty people was horrible. I started out on the treadmill. I only managed to run for about ten minutes before I needed to quit. I thought I might pass out. While I’m not in the greatest shape, I blame the lack of air conditioning. I was absolutely drenched in sweat. I finally questioned one of the trainers, and was informed that the air conditioner had malfunctioned. They’d hired an HVAC contractor for repair but were waiting on a necessary part. They had no idea when the air conditioner would finally be repaired and operational again. I was tempted to ask for my money back.
